North Culture Addition
Day 1
Khowarib
Located along the Hoanib River, the Khowarib gorge digs its path for 25km
The gorge offers some spectacular scenery and many opportunities for birding, walking and exploring. Unusually for this part of Namibia, there is a dam and a small spring and waterfall a short distance to the east. Perfect for a little wonderment and refreshment.
Day 2-3
Epupa Falls
The Kunene River, the natural border to Angola, comes with a pleasant surprise: the Epupa Falls.
A visit to the Himba communities near Epupa Falls, one of Namibia’s most iconic landscapes. The Himba, known for their distinctive dress and customs, welcome visitors to learn about their rich heritage amongst the cascading falls and surrounding baobab trees.
Time and modern ways seem to pass by their traditions: many Himba people have an authentic, nomadic lifestyle where life is organized around cattle. A guided visit to a Himba settlement will give more insight in the way of life and traditions.
Day 3 – 4
Epupa Falls
Follow in the foot steps of… in a traditional Ovambo homestead
Visit the Nakambale Adventure camp, which is an old mission station and introduces the Ovambo culture. Set in the countryside, learn about the traditional homesteads, cuisine, crafts and cultural practices. Here you can enjoy all familiar comforts while gaining a deeper understanding and connection to one of the many of Namibia’s diverse cultures.

Accommodation:
- Standard accommodation tours include all rooms at middle-class hotels, guesthouses or lodges (mostly B&B), unless otherwise requested.
- Standard camping tours include most nights at campsites, combined with several nights at middle-class hotels, guesthouse or lodges (mostly B&B).
- Almost all campsites and accommodations have a restaurant and offer facilities like a pool, bar, info desk, etc.
- If the trips includes visits to National Parks, then the nights will be spent inside the parks as much as possible.
Meals & Drinks:
- Most accommodations are booked with breakfast and camping is self-catering. It will be clearly indicated what meals are included in your tour proposal.
- With most accommodations it is also possible to book dinner in advance. If you would like to include this in your proposal, please let us know.
